FAQ

How do I ask for an appointment?

Appointments should be requested by telephone on 677 41 91 96, or alternatively directly at the reception of the Clinica (956 211 435).

You can also contact us by e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . This e-mail address is protected against spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it p appointment.

Is it necessary to request an appointment in advance?

Almost always, yes. In order to provide the best attention to all patients, and for the correct functioning of the Consultancy, it is essential that patients attend at the time and date previously agreed. Only in the event of a real emergency would it be possible for us to attend you without a previous appointment.

Do you work with medical insurance companies?

Yes. We attend clients of the following companies: ADESLAS, ASISA, MAPFRE, CAJA SALUD, DIPUTACIÓN DE CÁDIZ, SANITAS.

What test results should I bring when I have my first appointment at the consultancy?

All your medical documentation (analyses, examinations, reports, scans…) will be very useful for helping the doctor to appreciate better your problem or condition. Often this will avoid the need to repeat tests and other procedures, and so avoid the need for an additional appointment or visit just to bring such documentation.

How many other persons can accompany me in the consultation?

You can decide whether you want other members of your family to be present. In our view, it is preferable for the patient to be accompanied by only one or two close family members or friends who might be able to collaborate in the medical consultation by contributing additional information, or by assisting if the patient has some incapacity.

What is laparoscopic surgery?

This is one type of what is generally known as Minimally-Invasive Surgery. With this surgery, the abdominal and retroperitoneal organs are approached through small incisions, so that access can be gained to the organ in question. The instruments utilized for this are extremely fine and small, and effectively act as a prolongation of the surgeon's fingers and hands deep inside the patient.

Although this has represented something of a "revolution" in surgical intervention, urology has always been one of the more advanced specialities in the concept of minimally-invasive techniques. For many decades now, the organs dealt with by the urologist have been approached through the body's natural orifices, particularly the external urethral duct, or by very small incisions made in the lumbar region.

Do you perform laparoscopic surgery?

Yes, of course. In our centre we carry out all types of minimally-invasive urology surgery. These include, specifically: transurethral surgery of the prostate and the bladder, ureteroscopy and treatment of urethral lithiasis, necroscopies and treatment of renal lithiasis by this means, nephrectomies and laparoscopic pyeloplastias, etc.

When are the medical fees incurred due for payment?

Always when each of the consultations made by the patient has been completed. Because a particular consultation may require several different kinds of examination or test, there is no set price: the amount due should be paid on completion of each consultation process.

What do I do if there is an emergency after being discharged from hospital?

After being discharged, you will be informed of all the possibilities that are likely to occur, including any complications that may arise. Similarly, you will be offered options regarding procedures for communicating with us so that we may ensure that your evolution proceeds normally, and so that you may contact us urgently in the event of an emergency.

At what age should the urinary system and the prostate be checked?

It is known that, in men, from the age of 50 years, a process of involution of the prostate takes place, whereby the prostate increases in size. This growth is frequently independent of any symptoms of urinary disorder that may be experienced, and independent of any benign or malignant condition of the prostate or any other part of the system. Having a relevant family history is a risk factor for the appearance of malignant tumours of the prostate, particularly for those men whose grandfather, father and/or brother are believed to have suffered this condition (i.e. those in direct line of descent).

Equally, beyond certain ages, particular pathologies of the urinary system occur more frequently; these include lithiasis, inflammations and tumours.

Disorders of sexual relations are also more frequent from those ages; these include decreased libido and inadequate erections, among others.

For these reasons, we consider that 50 years of age is the optimum time to begin check-ups of the urinary system in men, in a similar way to the periodic gynecological check-ups that women require.
